The Safeway Shuttle Restarts Saturday, August 23, 2025
The George Washington University is pleased to offer transportation options to the Safeway at 1855 Wisconsin Ave. for both Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon residents during the academic year.
Foggy Bottom Safeway Shuttle
On Saturdays from noon to 4 pm during the academic year (August - May), Foggy Bottom students can hop on the Foggy Bottom Safeway Shuttle for a quick trip to the Safeway at 1855 Wisconsin Ave. Shuttles will continuously run between Foggy Bottom Campus in front of the Funger Hall on G Street and Safeway according to the schedule below. The last shuttle pickup from Foggy Bottom is at 3:20 and from Safeway at 4:20.

Mount Vernon Uber to Safeway
On Saturdays and Sundays during the academic year (Aug - May), Mount Vernon students can take up to three trips a month between noon and 4 pm to the Safeway grocery store at 1855 Wisconsin Ave.
Mount Vernon students will be sent an invitation from Uber to participate in a program offering trips to Safeway and back up to three times per month on Saturdays or Sundays between noon and 4 pm. The six Safeway grocery voucher rides are valued at $20 per ride and will be automatically loaded on the first day of each month during the academic year (Aug - May). The vouchers can only be used on Saturdays or Sundays during the noted time and voucher rides do not roll over from month to month. If you book a trip to Safeway outside of the scheduled hours you will be charged for a Uber ride at current pricing.
